LIVINGSTON, N.J. –Barnabas Health Medical Group (BHMG) announces the appointment of
Andrew Sylvester, M.D., board-certified neurologist, as the Medical Director of the Multiple
Sclerosis Comprehensive Care Center, affiliated with Saint Barnabas Medical
Center, an RWJBarnabas Health facility.

Center. “Dr. Sylvester’s vision coupled with his expertise
and experience will further advance the programs and services offered
to the community through our Multiple Sclerosis Comprehensive Care Center.
His dedication to providing comprehensive and personalized care to our
patients and their families will be a valuable asset to RWJBarnabas Health’s
Dr. Sylvester has worked over the last 16 years perfecting his multidisciplinary
approach to the treatment of patients with Multiple Sclerosis. After completing
a Bachelor of Arts degree from Washington University, St. Louis, MO, he
earned his medical degree from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New
York, NY. He completed his residency in Neurology at the Albert Einstein
College of Medicine. He went on to subspecialize in Multiple Sclerosis
by completing a two-year clinical neuro-immunology fellowship at Columbia
University at the MS Research and Treatment Center at St. Luke’s
Roosevelt Hospital Center and then continued his work as a multiple sclerosis
specialist at the International Multiple Sclerosis Management Practice
in Manhattan and as an assistant clinical scientist at the Tisch Multiple
Sclerosis Research Center of New York. Dr. Sylvester is a member of the
American Academy of Neurology and the New York Academy of Science. He
has achieved the honor of being selected for inclusion in Castle Connolly’s
Top Doctors New York Metro Area and has been a perennial member of the
Best Doctors since 2005.
Dr. Sylvester recently earned an additional subspecialty certification
as a diplomat for Neural Repair and Rehabilitation. He plans to continue
his research at RWJBarnabas Health as well as develop an intricate network
of specialists that will focus on addressing all facets of multiple sclerosis
to maximize patient satisfaction and positive outcomes. He values the
patient experience. He demonstrates this by putting the patient first;
addressing all MS- related needs, returns calls the day they are received
and sees patients promptly at the scheduled time of the appointment to
maximize patient satisfaction and positive outcomes.
