Westpark Pediatrics Joins Barnabas Health Medical Group
Ocean, Manalapan, Lakewood, N.J. (January 11, 2016) – Westpark Pediatrics is now part of the growing multi-specialty network
of physicians, Barnabas Health Medical Group, effectively joining Barnabas
Health, the largest not-for-profit integrated health care delivery system
in New Jersey and one of the largest in the nation. The practice is affiliated
with Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, a Barnabas Health facility.
Throughout its 38-year history, Westpark Pediatrics has provided high quality
care to Monmouth and Ocean County infants, children and adolescents. Founded
in 1977 by Elias Sasson, M.D., F.A.A.P. and Judith Topilow, M.D., F.A.A.P.,
Westpark Pediatrics established its first practice in Ocean Township.
In their many years of practice, Drs. Sasson and Topilow have treated
multiple generations of the same family.
Over the years, Westpark Pediatrics has adapted and expanded into three
convenient locations - Ocean and Manalapan Townships and Lakewood - to
meet the ever-changing world of medicine and its patients’ needs.
Today, Westpark Pediatrics’ highly accomplished team of professionals
includes seven board certified and fellowship trained pediatricians and
four nurse practitioners. All are members of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Known for its family-friendly and compassionate environment, Westpark Pediatrics
prides itself on treating the patient as a whole and not just the illness
or injury. The practice offers a variety of services for infant, child
and adolescent health care, including physicals, wellness visits, vaccinations
and advice on development, nutrition, infant feeding practices, learning
and behavioral issues and adolescent issues.

The pediatricians and nurse practitioners of Westpark Pediatrics are:
Elias Sasson, M.D., F.A.A.P. founded Westpark Pediatrics with Dr. Topilow in 1977. Since the age of
13, he knew he wanted to be a doctor and never thought about doing anything
else. After graduating from SUNY Downstate Medical Center and completing
a residency at Bronx Municipal Hospital Center and Albert Einstein College
of Medicine, Dr. Sasson moved to Monmouth County and opened Westpark Pediatrics.
Judith Topilow, M.D., F.A.A.P. teamed up with Dr. Sasson in 1977 to open the first Westpark Pediatrics
office in Ocean Township. She completed her medical education at New York
Medical College and her residency at Bronx Municipal Hospital Center While
she is committed to all aspects of pediatric care, Dr. Topilow has a special
interest in developmental disabilities and has been involved with a Muscular
Dystrophy Association sponsored neuromuscular clinic for more than 35
years. She believes that promoting patient advocacy and maintaining an
open line of communication with patients and families are key pieces in
successful pediatric care.
Kirk Kerensky, M.D., F.A.A.P. has been at Westpark Pediatrics since the early 1980s. Before joining the
practice, he attended medical school at the University of Pennsylvania,
completed a pediatrics residency at The Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh
and was fellowship trained in pediatric endocrinology and diabetes at
Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital.
Ellen Setton, M.D., F.A.A.P. completed her medical training at SUNY Downstate Medical Center and her
pediatric residency at New York University Medical Center and Bellevue
University Hospital. Dr. Setton has more than 20 years of experience in
Thomas O’Brien, M.D., F.A.A.P. has been with Westpark Pediatrics since 2001. He received his medical degree
from UMDNJ – New Jersey Medical School and completed his pediatric
residency at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, serving as chief resident.
Rebekah Lipstein, M.D., F.A.A.P. attended medical school at the University Of Maryland School Of Medicine
and completed her residency in pediatrics at Jacobi Medical Center at
the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, serving as chief resident.
Klara Galperina, D.O., F.A.A.P. received her medical degree from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine
and completed her residency in pediatrics at UMDNJ – Robert Wood Johnson.
Cynthia McLaughlin, APN – C, C.P.N.P is a board certified pediatric nurse practitioner who has been with Westpark
Pediatrics since 2010. She received a Master of Science in nursing at
the University of Pennsylvania, where she specialized in primary care
Erika Jubina, APN – C, C.P.N.P graduated from Seton Hall University in South Orange, N.J., where she
completed the pediatric nurse practitioner program.
Nechama Ray, APN – C, C.P.N.P joined Westpark Pediatrics as a nurse practitioner in 2014. She attended
Columbia University, where she received her nursing degree and completed
the pediatric nurse practitioner program.
Aimee Coyle, APN – C, C.P.N.P. graduated from Rutgers University College of Nursing, where she specialized
